HISTORY: Tucker, a big geek when it comes to the world of technology has remained Danny’s best friend since they were still in diapers, sharing everything together as well as generally agreeing with everything. As such, he has remained a vital part in Danny’s life as a superhero which he witnessed transforming into on par Sam’s request to see the Fenton Ghost Portal. Since then, he has reminded one of Danny’s backbones, mainly providing security and technological hacks through his extensive use of technology which he is quite knowledgeable about.

~*Always the Ignored Ones*~

In school, Tucker remains one of the least popular kids and is easily bullied by those stronger and more popular then he is. That doesn’t stop him from trying to gain any attention, particularly from girls who constantly always dumps his advances. He also seems to harbor a love for attention (refusing to be ignored) and money raging from being bribed by Jazz to tell her Danny’s secret (“My Brother’s Keeper”), to opening up various services such as babysitting and ghost tours to basking in the glory that is Sam’s house (who is rich). There isn’t many Tucker related episodes centric to him, however he’s had his own share of development throughout.

Despite his friendship with Danny, he also often expressed jealously of his powers. A wish granted by ghost genie Desiree caused him to gain ghost powers of his own which he use for practical jokes, however in time, it only made him more malevolent. It was through Danny and the Fenton Ghost Catcher that Tucker was freed from his ghost half where he apologized for acting in such a manner, reuniting their friendship again (“What You Want”).

He again showed off his true color when he refused to be ignored (while running for school president) and ends up turning his entire school and his peers into slaves in an Ancient Egyptian world with him as pharaoh due to the powers of a scepter held by Hotep-Ra, a ghost mummy who once served King Duulaman, a pharaoh who closely resembled Tucker. He was unaware until the last minute Hotep-Ra planned to usurp the throne, but with Danny’s help, he was able to subdue him and return everything back to normal, then resigned off from running as school president (“King Tuck”).

~*The Little Things*~

Tucker, while never having much of his own episodes, has had a fair decent amount of subplots where he briefly “dated” Valerie Gray (who was using him to get as much info on ghosts as possible) at one point when he possessed a liking to her (“Shades of Gray”), tried to change his image from a Techno Geek to various others--notably Goth--eventually settling back to who he was (“13”), revealed he could speak Esperanto (“Public Enemies”), started up a babysitting service as well as a ghost tour (“Life Lessons”, “The Million Dollar Ghost”), showed he is deathly afraid of hospitals (“Doctor’s Disorders”) and snakes ("Boxed Up Fury"), and like any other teenagers, enjoys video games and comics. He also seem to understand technology enough to invent stuff using 'em, having built a mood helmet that Danny ultimately uses to combat Vortex ("Torrent of Terror"), a holographic camera ("Frightmare"), and his biggest task, blue printing the tower Danny and a range of ghosts used to save Earth from an asteroid ("Phantom Planet").

He currently serves as the youngest mayor of Amity Park. Yeah, I know, I WTFed, too.

PERSONALITY: Ever since he’s first appearance on screen, Tucker has remained the calm, cool, and confident individual of the main trio. He seems to serve somewhat of a middle man between both Danny and Sam; not as naïve as Danny as he often does see things beyond what he can (such as Sam’s crush for him) and isn’t as emotionally driven, retaining a more lighthearted sense of air (compare to Sam’s more rational personality). He often seems to value friendship the most and thus serves as somewhat of the glue that holds the trio together, despite the irony that he's dark temptation can often split them apart.

Despite his constant rejection from girls (due to him being the flirty type), Tucker remains a confident figure, naturally assuming he’s every girl’s ladies’ man despite their views of him as a techno geek. His confident shines wherever he goes, waving his technology proudly and using it as his best asset in battle. He’s cool and collective, often smooth in his speech, yet he is also constantly getting the short end of the stick, thus he has a tendency to want attention and is the reason why he often talks more then he really should as well as crack frequent jokes and sarcastic remarks to probably hide a lot of his insecure/inferiority complex nature. As such, he often has a more darker side to him that is not often shown, such as his abuse for power whenever he gets said power. While Danny may have conquered his, Tucker has proven he still has long ways to go.

However, Tucker has proven to be the most loyal of the three friends, going to great lengths to keep all of them together, using his technology to shot down security systems and even going to vast risk such as getting caught for someone (“Shades of Gray”) to filling in for someone (“What You Want”) to spying (“Double Cross My Heart”, etc.), proving he’d do just about anything for his friends, only truly distracted by his own vices (money, girls, etc), ahaha.

NEO YI’S OPINION: In truth, I never cared much for Tucker and still don’t, but it’s certainly not because I’m annoyed with him. I was just never interested and I think one of the primary flaws is that the show never truly explored too much of him compare to the others and that’s a darn shame since I’m sure there’s plenty of things for the show to unlock about him. I mean, why does he crave so much attention so much (although this one can be easily explained)? How did he get into technology?

We already know most of what the other major characters feel and the motivations behind their actions: Sam’s constant wanting to be an individual possibly stems from her rebuttal with her parents, Vlad wanting to gain both Maddie and Danny is because of his painful desire of leaving loneliness behind and wanting love, Jazz portrays the mature and overprotective sister due to living with less then influential parents and desire to be a big sister to her little brother, Valerie has her personal vendetta against ghosts because they screwed up her life, but we never see Tucker’s personal motivations behind his actions. I always felt he had a much darker presence then show would let on--if those two Tucker-centric episodes are implied. He has a problem whenever he has powers in which he abuses it. Danny may havesurvived from his evil self, but I sense Tucker would have a much trouble time dealing with his own and there could have been so many story potentials to work on that angle.

Such a shame, if they had delved further into Tucker, he’d have been more interesting as the rest of the cast. That said, I do enjoy his loyalty and his ability to see things Danny can’t. I mean, as much as he agrees with him often, it’s nice to see there isn’t two naïve characters in one setting.
